Susan Hill is the author of the famous ghost story The Woman in Black, now a major movie starring Daniel Radcliffe, as well as six other acclaimed mysteries starring Simon Serrailler. She lives in Gloucestershire, where she runs her own small publishing company, Long Barn Books.

Susan Hill’s Simon Serrailler series has sold more than one million copies worldwide. Her novels and short stories have won the Whitbread Book, Somerset Maugham, and John Llewellyn Rhys awards, the Yorkshire Post Book of the Year, and have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Dame Susan Hill is one of the UK’s most accomplished and decorated living authors, a professional writer for over fifty years, and the author of the bestselling Simon Serrailler crime series. In 2020, she was awarded a damehood (DBE) for her services to literature.
