ADA NICOLESCU, author of Prelude in Black and Green, was born in Bucharest, Romania, where she lived through World War II and Stalin's Communism. In 1961 she emigrated to Paris and, in October of the same year, arrived in New York. She is a psychiatrist in private practice in Manhattan.
