K S S S PSALMS 19:7-14 (Our Daily Bread 8-4-2011) THE BIBLE HAS THE ANSWERS TO LIFE'S PROBLEMS

A DEVOTION IN SUPPORT OF BIBLE STUDY

I. KNOW the word in your head

A. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." II Timothy 2:15

2. STOW the word in your heart

A. When you sincerely read God's word, the Holy Spirit will get it into your heart ".... not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words." I Corinthians 2:13

B. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11

3. SHOW the effects of the word through your life

A. When you spend private time with God, it will show publicly in the way you live. "But you, when you pray, (study) go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray (study) to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." Matthew 6:6

4. SOW the word to the world

A. "... and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth." Acts 1:8

1. "... for ye shall go out with joy ..." Isaiah 55:12

2. Go personally

3. Send others (Missionaries and other ministries)

LUKE 10:25-28

During life we are faced with many questions.

When we are toddlers, we ask questions like: What toy should I play with?

When we are in first grade, we ask questions like: Which friend should I play with today?

When we are in fifth grade, we ask questions like: Should I study or play?

When we are teenagers, we ask questions like: Whom do I select as friends?

Some questions are simple, like: Which hat do I wear?

Some questions are difficult, like: Which college should I choose?

Some people say that it is not proper to question God because he is all wise, all knowing, everywhere, and all powerful.

Let's look at some people in the bible that questioned God:

Old Testament

Cain—Genesis 4:9—"Am I my brother's keeper?"

Moses—Exodus 17:4 "What shall I do unto this people? They are almost ready to stone me."

David—Psalm 15:1—"Lord who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill?"

New Testament

John The Baptist—Matthew 3:14—"But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?"

A certain lawyer—Luke 10:29—But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

Nathaniel—John 1:48—Nathaniel said to Him, "How do You know me?"

I submit that it is proper to question God, but with some limits, e.g. three (3) possible categories:

1. Establishing a relationship with Christ—Questions to help you make that decision

a. Luke 10:25 ".... Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

b. John 3:4 "Nicodemus said to Him, `How can a man be born when he is old?

2. Direction once the relationship is established—How and where to serve

a. Acts 9:5-6—Paul—"And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he, trembling and astonished said, `Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?"

b. John 6:28 - They said therefore to Him, "What shall we do that we may work the works of God?

3. Wisdom in understanding experiences

a. Lord, what are you trying to teach and show me with these experiences?

Questions for YOU from God:

Will you hear my word?

Will you believe that I died and rose for you?

Do you believe I love you?

Will you trust me?

Will you trust and receive me as your savior now?

If you can answer "yes" to all of these questions, you can receive Jesus Christ right now.
