Malcolm Timms was born in Woodford Green, Essex in 1946. On leaving school he trained for three years at Brentwood College of Education before commencing a teaching career. At college his main subject was art and craft specialising in claycraft. However, his interests extended to other arts disciplines and he became a keen member of the college drama society. His fi rst teaching post was at Long Ridings Junior School, where he became head of Music, and formed a school orchestra. With this orchestra he enjoyed considerable success in local and national festivals and recognition as a composer and arranger. In 1981 he moved to John Ray Junior School, Braintree and once again formed a school orchestra. His compositions and arrangements of children's music brought national success to his new school. Malcolm believes that the arts disciplines inter-relate and so decided to try his hand at poetry. He hopes they will bring amusement and pleasure to the reader. This, my second book of twenty-one poems has been illustrated as the fi rst by Sarah Carpenter.
