From Dry January to Sober October, growing numbers of people are taking a fresh look at their relationship to alcohol. Some feel inspired to stop drinking altogether. Many others seek to make alcohol consumption a conscious choice rather than an automatic habit. This empowering book offers a science-based map for the journey. Renowned psychologists William R. Miller and Ricardo F. Muñoz guide you to explore what you get out of drinking, identify potentially harmful patterns, and make informed decisions about whether, when, and how much to consume. Grounded in emerging knowledge about alcohol's effects on health, the book is filled with vivid stories, self-quizzes, checklists, and tips. Learn concrete strategies to envision and attain your goals--plus a toolkit of zero-proof ways to kick back, cope with stress, and feel more connected to others.
