Family
Mirror, Mirror on the Mom Although I don't admit it, Mom, you're just like me.
I look inside the mirror and you are what I see
and what I found to be true—
in oh so many ways, I act just like you.
The gestures that you make I catch myself doing.
Thank God you didn't patent your ways
because I'm the person you'll be suing
and the favorite lines you use,
they slip right off my lips
like butter on an uncooked egg or shoes without any grip.
Although this is what teachers despise,
I can't help but use your words—I guess I plagiarize.
You know what decisions I make because you might have made them
too.
I wondered why you knew so much about me, but now I guess I do.
So every dispute we had, I know why I was defeated:
Because I'm just like you, so I think you kind of cheated
But I got a better idea to go ahead, if you only knew,
I'm going to go to mirror mirror Grandma,
Who's the older mirror of you.
Kids Want to Know Why,
Part I Why do we have to rake leaves if they will fall down again?
Why do we have to repent when there will always be sin?
Why do we have to wash when we will get again unclean?
Why do we have to be nice when your personality's mean?
Why do we have to eat when we will get hungry real soon?
Why do we have the sun and the sky and the moon?
Why do we have to change light bulbs when they will eventually blow
out?
Why do we believe that we're right and have only a slight bit of doubt?
Why do we see our friends and then have to say good-bye?
Why do we drink so much water if our throats will just get dry?
Why do we shovel the snow for it to fall right back down?
Why do we do crazy things when no one else is around?
Why do you get frustrated when I ask
Why do we?
Can you examine my questions and get right back to me?
Kids Want to Know Why,
Part 2 Why do you have so many questions? Why so much to say?
You're driving me crazy, I must add if I may.
I know you have parents and I am your mother,
but for crying out loud, just go ask your brother.
Why do we rake leaves? What a great question or line!
Because if the mayor sees we haven't, everyone will be fined.
We repent when we sin
Because if we don't, then the devil's our friend.
We wash when we're older, we wash when we're young
because if we didn't we would all smell like horse dung.
We act nice when we're mean because we don't want people to see
our true and crazy sides of a mean personality.
We eat when we're hungry so we can survive.
Don't ask me that question; that's why you're alive.
We have the sun, moon, and sky
because God put them there and please don't ask me why.
We believe we're right when we have slight doubts
because we cannot admit it—the words won't come out.
We change light bulbs so that we can see.
Oh, some of these questions that you ask of me!
We say bye to our friends because we have to go.
What are some other questions you might want to know?
We drink because our throats get dry
and if we go without we can possibly die.
We shovel the snow so that no one can fall
because then if they do, they can sue us all.
We do crazy things when we're alone because we feel safe
knowing that no one will laugh in our face.
I get frustrated when you ask why when you're clever,
but the questions you ask me have answers forever.
Happy Mother's Day Happy Mother's Day to all of our mothers.
It's because of you we have our sisters and brothers.
The special moments you have shared
helped us to realize how much you cared.
We will never take you for granted
for we are the seed which you have planted,
for we are the life that you brought to this earth,
a wonderful mother and our wonderful birth.
Our memories of the past will remain in our heart
Our ladies of wisdom, our seniors, are smart.
It's so much more that children should say
when wishing you all a happy Mother's Day!

Faith
Daily Prayer I pray a prayer of protection—dear Lord, please protect me
not only just myself; protect my family.
Oh, guide us while we're driving or riding on the train.
I pray for traveling mercies in the hail, the sleet, or rain.
My God, please hear my prayer, dear Lord, please hear my song.
Oh, please, just give us strength when our day is going wrong.
When starting off my day, I repent for all my sins.
Protect everyone in my life, including all my friends.
Protect my little brother, although he's in preschool.
I know that little children can be a tad bit cruel,
so protect us against spirits, protect us against lust.
Keep us away from people who always like to fuss.
Turn a thief the opposite way if were walking with cash.
Turn a vicious dog away if we can't run that fast.
Turn a flying bullet away when it's coming in our direction
and when I see it pass me, I'll say, "Now, that was God's protection!"
Turn someone with words that can hurt us so they won't harm our ears.
Just protect us against all bad things, including all our fears.
And now that you let me sing to you,
my song is not neglected,
and because I know you answer prayers,
I know we're all protected.
(Listen) If you can, just do it; if you can't, then try.
If God gives you assignments, please don't ask him why.
Too many of his commandments are questioned, too many laws not
followed.
Take any concerns that you have and just gracefully swallow.
Whoever says God isn't real has shamefully lied.
People will run away from Jesus just to follow their pride.
Something is backward—the poor give what they don't have and the
rich hold what they do.
Braggers think that they know something when God already knew.
The almighty sees what we're doing right and understands what we're
doing wrong.
He perfected a conclusion on why we don't get along.
You cannot outsmart him but some people think that they can.
You cannot outsmart the creator of yourself, the creator of man.
You cannot pretend to be someone or something that you're not.
I would rather go to paradise than that place that is so hot.
We travel this long journey, this everlasting ride,
and the word of the Lord we should try our best to abide.
Don' t Pray for the Worst,
but for the Best You prayed that I wouldn't succeed and you failed.
You prayed I wouldn't get into heaven
while you lived in hell.
You prayed that I should never get rich and you became poor.
You though I would have less,
but I received more.
You prayed that I couldn't see and you became blind,
prayed that I couldn't think,
and you lost your mind.
We pray bad things on our enemies and I know they did bad,
but what we pray on them will bounce back to us and we will only be
mad.
We get angry to know as victims our enemies do wrong, and we think
they get away,
but we don't know how God...
