Description: The purpose is to provide an up-to-date, comprehensive, evidence-based approach to the full array of neonatal issues, from organiation to euthics to clinical care. The book is rooted in biochemistry and pathophysiology as the basis for care algorithms.

Audience: The audience is the full complement of neonatal caregivers, from nurses to attendings.

Assessment: This is the gold standard of neonatal references. It is evidence based, written by known experts in the field, and comprehensive. Compared to the other neonatal textbooks (Avery's Neonatology: Pathophysiology and Management of the Newborn, 6th edition, MacDonald et al. (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005), Avery's Diseases of the NEwborn, 9th edition, Gleason and Devaskar (Elsevier, 2012)), it is more detailed with an emphasis on the organization asepcts of perinatal medicine, biochemistry, and the pathophysiological basis of care algorithms. This book is a must for every neonatal library and is a selection in this field for the Doody Core Titles 2015 list.
