In 1980, Karl Righter of Orlando won Toastmasters International's Humorous Speech Contest at the highest level with a hilarious talk entitled Laugh at Yourself, Others Are. His message was simple - that the ability to laugh at ourselves is crucial to our sanity during life's inevitable tough times. This achievement launched his professional speaking career.
