The design has been to prepare a book which would serve as a guide in ordinary business matters, one that would enable those seeking information regarding modern business methods to obtain the knowledge desired without having to search through a whole library to find it.

It is believed that there is a demand for such a book and that the work will be found both interesting and useful to a large class of people who desire to become familiar with modern ways of doing business. The intention has not been to cover all lines of business but only to include the facts which every business man should know.
