In 2015, nuclear war burns the cities of humanity to rubble, turns the air to poison, and grass to the color of blood: most of the world population dies. By the year is 2989, when The Amtrak Wars takes place, humanity is split into two groups - the Trackers, members of the Amtrak Federation who live in a complex of advanced underground cities, and the Mutes, who have survived on the surface, adapting to the radiation to become stronger through mutations.
The Amtrak Federation is dedicated to reclaiming the surface world for humanity, and for centuries, the Amtrak Federation expands, and kills or enslaves Mutes in their path. But eventually the Mutes, with their magical powers, prove to be a match for even the Tracker's advanced technology. Steve Brickman, a newly-trained Tracker wingman, joins an elite unit making an major strike against the Mutes. But when Steve is shot down and captured by Mutes, he falls in love with one of the 'enemey' and learns that there is more to these people than the Federation decrees.
Cloud Warrior is the first in Patrick Tilley's international bestselling futuristic epic, The Amtrak Wars. The film rights for the series have been optioned and are currently in development.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Patrick Tilley was born in Essex in 1928. After studying art at King's College, University of Durham, he came to London in 1955 and rapidly established himself as one of Britain's leading graphic designers. He began writing part-time in 1959, and in 1968 he gave up design altogether in favour of a new career as a film scriptwriter. He worked on several major British-based productions, as well as writing assignments in New York and Hollywood.
Patrick Tilley is best known for his international bestselling science fiction epic, The Amtrak Wars Saga. The film rights for the series have been optioned and are currently in development.
