This early work is Louisa May Alcott’s 1875 novel, "Eight Cousins, or The Aunt-Hill". It is the story of a lonesome and poorly young orphan who falls into the care of her great aunts until the return of her uncle and guardian. Thanks to his untraditional ideas of child-care, she improves in her physical and mental health. This heart-warming story is not to be missed by fans of Alcott’s work, and would make for a worthy addition to any collection. Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888) was an American author best known for her novel “Little Women”. Many classic books such as this are becoming increasingly rare and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.
Louisa May Alcott was both an abolitionist and a feminist. She is best known for Little Women (1868), a semiautobiographical account of her childhood years with her sisters in Concord, Massachusetts. Alcott, unlike Jo, never married: ''... because I have fallen in love with so many pretty girls and never once the least bit with any man.'' She was an advocate of women's suffrage and was the first woman to register to vote in Concord, Massachusetts.
