Robert D.Morritt was born in Carlisle, Cumbria, England, and as a child grew up in Penarth, South Wales.He studied Prehistory and early agriculture at the University of Manchester also Communications at the University of Toronto.He is a historian and a musicologist. He has travelled extensively in the American South and in Appalachia and in the Southwestern states.
