An unexpected detour named Dustin...
She left her college plans and her family behind for the road trip of a lifetime. Now Miranda's ready to take on another huge challenge: climbing a mountain in Colorado. Miranda's always been afraid of heights, but that was before she met Dustin. He's tall, blonde, gorgeous, and he wants Miranda to be his climbing partner, all the way to the top.
Even though she's terrifed, Miranda can't bear to disappoint him. She just hopes he'll understand there's only one thing she's more afraid of than heights -- and that's falling in love.

Stephanie Dovon has worked as ghostwriter for several popular teen series. Her own young adult series, On the Road, was published by Simon Pulse in 1999. The Greatest Man in Cedar Hole is her first adult novel. She currently lives in Maine. From School Library Journal:
Grade 6-10-After a near miss with a tree, Miranda and Kirsten are back on the road, driving through the northwest. As they stop to buy food and gas with what little money they have left, Miranda meets the guy of her dreams-Dustin. Kirsten sees him as well and begins her flirting routine that Miranda has grown to hate. The three head for St. Paul, MN, and then begin their trek west toward California. Dustin is a devoted mountain climber and has plans to do some rock climbing in Colorado. Miranda is falling in love with him and can't seem to understand that he likes her even when Kirsten is around. The tension buildup between the two girls is genuine, but there are no heights or depths that make this book outstanding. However, series reading is addictive for teenagers and this title will involve fans of the first two books.
