Unlike any art-journal process presented in a book before, this book will appeal to artists who are often uncomfortable with too much artistic freedom. Many artists are actually fairly linear in their thought process and this flows over into their creative process, too. Nichole's book takes the art-journaling process and presents it in a methodical way that leaves room for the reader's own style and voice, but removes the anxiety that comes with having too little guidance and too much freedom. The process introduced in this book begins with attention to getting words collected in as simple a manner as a list (or in any manner the reader likes). Daily thoughts/lists are compiled in a Word doc the reader keeps on her computer and collects for up to months at a time until she feels the particular journey she is chronicling is complete. During this text-collection phase, she will be guided into selecting and preparing the book she eventually wishes to create as her art journal. Instruction for the best way to print and organize the text lists/thoughts into categories will be given and then the reader will move on to the art-making collage phase. Techniques and tips for including color, embellishments and photos will show the reader easy ways to get their printed journaling text onto the page and personalize it in a meaningful and creative way.
