In this Introduction but little has been transferred from the A rt. Hiob which the Author has contributed to Herzog s Real-E ncyklopddie. The Author streatise on the idea of the book of Job in the Zeitschrift fiir Protestantismus u. Kirche 1851, S. 65-86, is recapitulatory rather than isagogic, and consequently of a totally distinct character. NOTE. T his work is enriched by critical notes contributed by Prof. Dr Fleischer, and illustrative notes contributed by Dr Wetzstein, fifteen years Prussian Consul at Damascus.
