Ralph Adams Cram (1863 - 1942) was a prolific and influential American architect of collegiate and ecclesiastical buildings, often in the Gothic style. His firm's winning of the United States Military Academy at West Point project in 1902 was a major milestone in their career. Cram accepted the commission for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. For seven years he headed the Architectural Department at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Towards the Great Peace was first published in 1922.
