Sungju Lee is a North Korean defector, author, and human rights advocate. Born in Pyongyang, he experienced a dramatic fall from privilege when his family was exiled during North Korea's famine. Forced to survive on the streets as a child, he later escaped North Korea and rebuilt his life in South Korea. Lee is best known for Every Falling Star, his internationally acclaimed memoir for young readers. Today he speaks around the world about human rights, freedom, and the experiences of North Korean refugees.

Susan McClelland is an award-winning journalist, author, and collaborator on numerous nonfiction works focused on human rights, social justice, and international affairs. She has written extensively about global issues and has helped bring powerful real-life stories to young readers. Working with Sungju Lee, she helped shape Every Falling Star into a gripping memoir that sheds light on life inside contemporary North Korea.
