Nick Cibrario, the author of "The Garden of Kathmandu Trilogy," traveled to Nepal four times. This beautiful Himalayan Kingdom is the setting of his novels, "The Pomelo Tree", "The Harvest" and "The Shamans". Nick first went to Nepal with the Peace Corps, where he taught high school from 1962-1964. He was intriqued by the Nepalese language, culture, and religion (Buddhism and Hinduism), which he incorporates into his trilogy. In 1976 Nick took a sabbatical from teaching English at William Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin. He returned to Nepal where he spent a year writing "The Pomelo Tree". Upon coming back to the U.S., he resumed teaching English while working on several manuscripst with Mable L. Haugen, a literary agent. In 1981 he toured India for a month and spent time with his Nepalese friends in Katmandu. In 2000 Nick returned to Nepal at the request of his publisher to update the trilogy and attend a Peace Corps reunion. At that time he traveled to all the places which wrote about in his trilogy, including an overland trip from Kathmandu to Lhasa. Nick has a B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse. He did graduate work at Marquette University and the University of Pennsylvania in South Asian Studies. He completed his master's degree at The College of Racine. Nick currently lives in Racine, Wisconsin and spends his leisure time writing, painting, and sculpting. For the past three years he's been studying sculpture with Gerhardt Kroll at the Kenosha Art Association. Nick is also a member of the Racine Art Guild. His work has been on exhibit at the Anderson Art Center and Wustum Museum. Nick has been married to Geri for 27 years. He and his wife have three children and four cats.
