Das fünfbändige Lehrwerk Innovations richtet sich an junge und jung gebliebene Erwachsene, die zeitgemäßes und idiomatisches Englisch von Anfang an lernen möchten. Bei Innovations liegt der Schwerpunkt vor allem auf dem Aufbau von Sprachkompetenz für realistische Situationen und Unterhaltungen im Alltag. Entsprechend sind die Units thematisch nach Sprechanlässen gegliedert. Das Lehrwerk enthält vielfältige Übungsformen zu den vier skills sowie zahlreiche Vorschläge für Partner-/Gruppenarbeit und Rollenspiele. Listening activities und motivierende Lesetexte fördern einen kommunikationsorientierten Unterricht. Die Grammatikinhalte des jeweiligen Sprachniveaus werden funktional in den Units vorgestellt, eingeübt und regelmäßig wiederholt. Das Workbook ergänzt die jeweiligen Units des Coursebook mit weiteren Übungen und zusätzlichen Schreibaufgaben. Es ist als Selbstlernmaterial konzipiert, kann aber alternativ auch im Unterricht oder für Hausaufgaben eingesetzt werden.

Über die Autorinnen und Autoren

Hugh Dellar runs London Language Lab, a boutique English-language school in the heart of the English capital, where he continues to enjoy teaching and doing teacher training. He is also the writer of the popular Word of the Day blog, designed for learners and for teachers to use in the classroom. Hugh has been working in the field for almost twenty years, first working as a teacher, trainer and course director at the University of Westminster. He then went on to found the website Lexicallab.com. Hugh is published by National Geographic Learning. As well as the series Outcomes, now in its second edition, he co-wrote the series Innovations, which was shortlisted for the ELTons and the ESU Duke of Edinburgh award. He is currently working with National Geographic Learning on a secondary course Perspectives, which features TED talks. In terms of teaching methodology, he has co-written many articles for publications such as ETP and IATEFL Voices and are popular speakers at conferences all over the world. He has delivered training courses and workshops in over 30 countries.

Andrew has been in English language teaching for over thirty years. He started out as a teacher in Valencia, Spain. Since then he has largely worked in colleges and universities in London but also spent four more years in Spain and conducted talks and workshops many other countries. He met Hugh at the University of Westminster and started writing with him on the series Innovations. Since then they have written several coursebook series as well as methodology books (Teaching Lexically DELTA Publishing) and Grammar Nonsense and what to do about it. After leaving Westminster in 2014 Andrew and Hugh have been running www.lexicallab.com which provides online language classes for teachers and other professional development both online and face-to-face. Andrew has a wide variety of interest outside of ELT including reading, theatre-going, dancing, gardening, playing football and politics. He currently lives in London with his wife, Nadera, and her dog.
