About the Authors

Dr Mary Deane specialises in helping students at all levels to develop their academic writing skills.  Her extensive experience includes the development of online referencing resources and research into writing pedagogies.  She was presented with a Teaching Excellence Award in 2008 for her work with staff and student writers. 

Dr Erik Borg has taught academic writing to students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK, China, and Oman for more than 10 years.  He has developed and taught courses on teaching and researching academic writing for Master’s students and published extensively on academic writing.
