William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English dramatist, poet, and actor, generally regarded as the greatest playwright of all time.
Jane Armstrong was born and brought up in North London. Her first encounter with Shakespeare was through music, at an early performance of Benjamin Britten's opera A Midsummer Night's Dream.
