Dr. Steve Woods is Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology at Surrey Business School, and a Chartered Occupational Psychologist. He received his PhD in 2004. Steve is known for his research on personality and vocational development, psychometric and personality trait assessment, and recruitment and selection. He publishes his research in scientific and professional journals,scholarly books and at national and international conferences. Steve speaks regularly at organizations and universities about personality and work, and contemporary issues in assessment and Work and Organizational Psychology more widely. He is a Director of Aston Business Assessments Ltd, an Aston University spin-out company, and has extensive professional, corporate and practitioner experience working with businesses in the UK and internationally on HRM strategy, policy and practice. Michael West is Senior Fellow at The King's Fund, Professor of Organizational Psychology at Lancaster University Management School and Emeritus Professor at Aston University. He graduated from the University of Wales in 1973 and received his PhD on the psychology of meditation in 1977. He has authored, edited or coedited 20 books and has published over 200 articles for scientific and practitioner publications, as well as chapters in scholarly books. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, the American Psychological Association (APA), the APA Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology, the International Association of Applied Psychologists, the British Academy of Management, a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences. His specialist areas are team working, organizational culture, leadership and effectiveness, particularly in relation to the organization of health services. He advises governments and organizations on developing health service cultures of high quality and compassionate care and is a sought after public speaker nationally and internationally.
