This classic book is a large collection of tales and poetry written by Richard Harris Barham and first published in 1837. The stories have their roots in traditional tales of legend and mythology, but are frequently parodist. Immensely popular when first published, "The Ingoldsby Legends" is highly recommended for lovers of folk lore and ghost stories, and would make for a worthy addition to any collection. Richard Harris Barham (1788-1845) was an English Church of England priest, author, and poet. Many classic books such as this are becoming increasingly rare and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.
