Der 1960 in Glasgow geborene Grant Morrison hat sich schon in frühen Jahren an Mystery und Sci-Fiction-Literatur versucht. Seine andere Leidenschaft gehörte der Punk-Musik, da er selbst in einer solchen Band spielte. 1978 begann er beruflich Comics zu schreiben: "Ich wollte schon immer Comics machen, aber Auslöser waren die Geschichten von Alan Moore, die mich dann auf den Weg brachten." Seither hat er das Genre durch bedeutende Geschichten revolutioniert: Batman: Arkham Asylum ist beispielsweise ein Meilenstein in Tiefenpsychologie, der Comics einen ernsten Unterton einhaucht.
