<b>M. R. James</b> (1862-1936) was an English author and a medievalist scholar who became one of the most acclaimed horror writers of all time. He was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge from 1913-15 and is best remembered for his antiquarian ghost stories which redefined the genre for the 20th century. His stories have been adapted numerous times and have influenced modern writers including Stephen King and Neil Gaiman.
