But whatever may be the case with respect to the merits of the Work, the size of it at least, after expunging many parts of the former im pressions, has been considerably increased, lst, by the alterations which have been made in se veral of the remaining Cases 2dly, by a more cepious detail of the circumstances under which others were decided 3dly, by the introduction of some new Cases during the period of the former editions and 4thly, by the addition of such Cases as the Editor has been' able to collect since the publication of the last edition. In reviewing, however, what he has done, he is apprehensive that his labours have only been exerted to increase the occasions of censure, which they were chiefly undertaken to remove.
