Inhaltsangabe

Bea loves rules ... especially spelling rules. They're predictable and they don't change. One day her friend Crystal stops spending time with her and Bea can't understand why. But when a new girl, Morven, joins her class, can Bea start a new friendship and find her voice when it matters? Reflect is a series of emotionally powerful fiction and non-fiction with realistic settings, carefully crafted to promote thoughtful discussions and develop higher-level reading comprehension. Written by top authors and developed with Literacy expert Nikki Gamble, these are books you can trust to engage, entertain and support children's personal development and wellbeing. The books are finely levelled, making it easy to match every child to books with the right depth and complexity, and helping them to progress. Each book contains inside cover notes to help children deepen their understanding and support their reading comprehension. Teaching notes on Oxford Owl offer cross-curricular links to Relationships Education and support literacy skills.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Catherine Bruton is an award-winning author of stories for young people, including the multi-award winning No Ballet Shoes in Syria. She also teach English and Drama and sees first hand the way that books can open young readers minds and help them see the world through other people's eyes. This story was inspired by - and written in collaboration with - one of her pupils, Hester Poole. Like Morven in the story, Hester is registered blind, but she has never let that hold her back. She recently raised £30,000 for Mekele Blind School in Ethiopia, earning her a nomination for the Bond International Development Award. She is also a talented singer, actor and athlete. Having recently won a Bronze Medal at the European Paralympic Ski Championships, she hopes to compete in the next Winter Paralympics. Hester is passionate about the importance of diverse representation in literature, and the need for more stories that present visual impairment. And her passion inspired Catherine to write 'Spelling Bea'.
