Ulrike Lindner is Professor of Modern History at the University of Cologne, Germany. She is a renowned scholar of comparative European colonialism and has published, among other topics, on British and German colonialism in Africa, gender roles in colonial societies, knowledge transfer between colonial empires and colonial social policy.

Dörte Lerp is a historian at the University of Cologne, Germany. Her research interests include German and European colonial history, gender history and tourism history, as well as postcolonial theory and memorial culture.
