Serjeant Ballantine, who spoke so low as to be almost ia gglible at the reporters' table, was understood to say that, w ile he knew he was entirely in the hands of the Com missioners, yet it occurred to his mind that these letters could not be given in evidence, and he was sure were not likely to make any impression on the Court. He would not. However, at that stage of the proceedings make any chise tion, but when the proper time came he would state his views on the subject.
