Thirty years ago the few who engaged in the mail order business were held up to ridicule by those who conducted business thru the regular channels of retail store selling. The idea that people would buy goods they had not seen was scoffed at by the average storekeeper.

It is not much more than a dozen years ago since the mail-order business began to establish itself fully in the confidence of the people generally. A point has now been reached, however, where those who for merly ridiculed the mail-order business as a channel of distribution appear to have become alarmed about their own existence and are attempting to keep mail order competition out of their territory either by closing all avenues of advertising or by securing legislation antagonistic to the mail-order houses.
