Since the publication of my two volumes on conifers I have been persuaded by various friends to continue the work, which will include practically all the genus Coniferae. I have described and figured from authentic specimens all the known cypresses and junipers which were omitted in the previous volumes. Various rare conifers are included which are not found in the British Isles, as well as new introductions, including Pseudotsuga macrocarpa, Pinus Nelsoni, the new Chinese genus Fokienia Hodginsn, and Cupressus formosensis. L have also figured Cunninghamia Konishii and Taiwania cryptomerioides which have not yet been introduced. Having sufficient illustrations for this volume, I have omitted many genera, including Widdringtonia, Araucaria, Podocarpus, and the Australian and New Zealand species, which I hope to describe in a fourth volume.
