Working for myself with the instruments for measuring the resistance of animal tissues to elec trical conduction, the fact, which I had not before sufficiently apprehended, became impressed upon me that these tissues might take rank under the head of non - conductors rather than under that of conductors. I found; for example, that the resistance of an inch of the sciatic nerve of a frog was not less than B. A. Units - as much, that is, as eight times that of the whole Atlantic cable.
