Excerpt from Cuba: General Descriptive Data Prepared in June, 1909
Spain was at war with Great Britain and France, in the rear 1762, a strong British army was sent out to conquer Cuba. After a siege of two months, Havana surrendered to Lord albemarle on August 12, 1762. The British retained possession of the island until the year following, when by the treaty concluded between the three powers Cuba was once more restored to the Spanish authorities on June 6, 1763.
