In the fall of 1900, the writer, as a pastor, organized a mid-week Bible class for the study of the Christian life. It was asked, What does it mean to be a Chris tian according to the words of the Master?

As no elementary work could be found which seemed to answer the purpose, a lesson was prepared each week and read to the class, some of whom wrote out in full even the scripture references. I The lesson was thoroughly discussed and the references read in the class. The attempt was made to teach the Chris tian life as a consistent whole, something worth living for, and, if need be, worth dying for.
