As to the kinds of knowledge which a minister should rultivate, they ought undoubtedly to be principally pro fessional; and in this class are included subjects of suffi cient compass and importance, to occupy the most de voted attention and comprehensive talents. But among professional subjects, there is ground of preference. Some are intrinsically more important than others; and some become especially important on account of the pe.
