Dr. Julius F. Sa'chse in his inter~ esting article, entitled Wayside Inns on the Lancaster Pike, published in volumes 21 and 22 of the proceedings of the Pennsylvania German Society, says that in July, 1777, the first at tempt was made to run stage wagons between these two places, and that it. Took two days to travel the distance o-f sixty miles. My investigations have led me to conclude that he is mistaken in this regard, and the rea sons for such a conclusion are these.
