In a recent paper,1 it was shown that the weight of a drop of liquid falling from a properly constructed tip is proportional for any one diameter of tip, to the surface tension of the liquid; and, further, that when falling drop weights are substituted for surface tensions as measured by capillary rise in the formula of eotvos, as modified and presented in two forms by Ramsay and Shields, the molecular weights and critical temperatures of liquids can be calculated with an accuracy equal to that attained by the use of the surface tensions found from the capillary rise.
