Pour ralentir le cours de la parole int�rieure et briser sa continuit�, il faut notre propre parole; pour la sus pendre tout a fait durant un temps notable, il faut la pa role d'autrui. Hors de ces deux cas, la parole int�rieure est constante; nous ne pensons pas, et, par suite, nous ne vivons pas sans elle. Elle occupe tous les vides laiss�s par la parole ext�rieure dans la succession psychique; elle fait, pourrait-011 dire, l'int�rim de la parole ext�rieure. L'�me n'est jamais sans entendre un son; lorsque le son n'est pas ext�rieur et r�el, il est remplac� par une image qui lui ressemble.
