It has been impossible in a little book of this kind to give more than a few of the writer's shorter poems, and it has been with feelings of regret that many verses, equally deserving of insertion, have had to be omitted.

The selection of poetry printed herein has been made from Mrs. Patterson's manuscripts by her children, who, having derived so much pleasure from the verses, feel that these may be a source of pleasure to others.
