Excerpt from First Annual Report of the Receipts and Expenditures of the Town of Hyde Park: With Reports of the Selectmen and Other Town Officers, for the Year Ending February 15, 1869
Among the first duties required Of us was one to establish the lines between this and the adjoining towns. Your Board met the selectmen of Dorchester, Milton, and Dedham, for this pur pose, and desire to say that we had no difficulty in determining the lines between this and the two former towns, and have had monuments erected defining the angles of the line, and the crossings of the highways. We cannot report so favorably in regard to the line between us and the town of Dedham, - the selectmen Of that town placing a construction on the wording Of our charter which we do not choose to admit. We hope, how ever, to be able to come to an amicable adjustment of the matter before our term of Office expires.
