Excerpt from Journal of the House of Representatives of the State of Indiana: Being the Fourth Session of the General Assembly, Begun and Held at Corydon, in the Said State, on Monday the Sixth Day of December 1819

Ordered, That the house proceed to elect an Assis tam Clerk, and after the house had proceeded to elect an Assistant Clerk by ballot, it appeared that Henry P. Thornton was duly elected.
