Thus provided with all the endowments that his own diligence and a fchool could give him, he was removed in his fixteenth year to peter-horde in Caméridge where by a clofe application to every branch of Univerfity learning, he foon made an extraordinary proficiency, and by his open be haviour and unaffected manners brought himfelf into the affeé'tion of the members of that fociety, and the el'teem of all who knew him; which made his converfation eagerly courted by all who had a zfincere regard for learning and virtue.
