This hand book is written with the object of enabling every manufacturer to train his employees in the method of drying lumber by the Vapor Process, that he may have the positive assurance that when the instructions are carefully followed, the results will be as positively uni form. The tables and plates are from actual experience. They are never exactly reproduced, even under similar circumstances, but the results are very uniform.

The principal elements in the successful working of a kiln are heated air and steam vapor.
