IT has been the wonder of many, to read in the holy fcripture, how few will be faved: and that the greateft part even of thofe that are called, will be {hut out of heaven, and tormented with the devils in eternal fire. Infidels believe not this, and therefore mull feel it. Thofe that do believe it, are forced to cry out with Paul, Rom. Xi. 33, O the depth of the riches, both of the wifdom and knowledge of God! How unfearch able are his judgments, and his ways pal'c finding out 1 But natute itfelf teaches us all to lay the blame of evil woiks upon the doers; and therefore when we fee any heinous thing committed, a principle of jufiice prov vokes us to enquire after him that did it. If We {aw a man killed, and cut in pieces by the way, we fhould prefently alk, 0 who dld this cruel deed? If a town Were fet on fire, you would alk, What wlcdr-vntctch did this So when we read that the moit will be fire brands of hell for ever, we mult needs think With ourv felves, How comes this to pafs Who is it that is {o cruel as to be the caufe of fuch a thing as this And we can meet,with few that will own the guilt.
