Wenn auch die Neuzeit, welche mit dem Auftreten Mohammeds begonnen hatte, sich alsbald so fruchtbar an neuen Keimen auf allen Gebieten des Lebens und des Wissens zeigte, dafs Jeder fühlte, es beginne eine neue Zeit, welche der Vorzeit überlegen sei, so traf dies für die Poesie zunächst nicht zu.
