J'ajouterai que c'est là ce qui m'a le plus attaché à cette étude, et que, ce qui m'a paru le mieux mériter un peu d'attention partout en 1 etat où nous sommes, c'est cette existence si pure et si sereine au milieu de tant d'orages, si détachée en face de tous lès attachements les plus vifs et des plus impérieux intérêts. Quand autour de lui tout est, ou bien passion, ou violence, ou per sécution, ou peur, saint-martin est calme, aimant, sûr, désintéressé le sage en personne. Et il l'est, non pas de par sa nature, mais de par sa volonté et sa raison.
