Certes, il y a eu, selon les poétiques désor mais périmées, de beaux poèmes, im prégnés d'émotion, savamment rythmés, mais peut-être n'en existe - til pas'un seul qui ne contienne des vers faibles et des chevilles. Pourquoi? Parce que les exigences de la Rime riche d 'une part, la nécessité d'un nombre uniforme de syllabes d 'autre part, nuisaient la libre expan sion du rythme. La Régle étouflait cet enfant fou, lovers, d'un carcan qui pour être en or et rehaussé de joailleries merveilleuses n'en était pas moins un carcan.
