AS in the preceding Volumes, the text, when given in italics, is that Of the English Authorized Version. The version in inverted commas is that given by the German commentator, or, when it simply follows the English version without the words should be or read, it is that of Luther accepted by the commentator without remark. When the rendering Of the English translators is given without correction, it is either identical with that of the German commentator, or else is already a little closer to the original Greek without differing in sense from his rendering. I have, as before, added a few notes, in square brackets, chiefly such as seemed to be required to adapt a German Commentary to the English Version. It is scarcely necessary to add that where German weights, measures or coins are mentioned, they are reduced in all three volumes to the.
