I then turned my attention to what I considered to be of the first importance, viz: the delivery of the placenta. Finding I could not effect its removal, for the reasons stated, I touched a mass hanging pendant below the neck of the uterus, which was a portion of the placenta you had previously detached. I made another examination with -a View to its removal, and to inform myself conclusively relative to the attached placenta. I succeeded in grasping the detached por tion, and brought it away. Both examinations did not occupy over five minutes, and I became satisfied that the remaining placenta was morbidly adherent. There was persistent hemorrhage, but not at this time alarming; still the patient exhibited no Signs of reaction. At the consultation I informed you that I considered the case a bad one, and recommended cordials for the patient.
