The claim of surgery to be considered as an art is in no way better exemplified than in a review of the infinite variety of methods employed in the treatment of abdominal incisions. Quot homines, tot sententiæ! There is, in this country perhaps especially, an innate tendency in the average surgeon to disregard suggested alterations in what he regards as minor technique, be these ever so alluringly set forth by his fellow-operator.
